Football - Goalscorer Rules

Player you've bet on been named on the bench? Please find below details of our Football rules regarding goalscorer markets. An example of a goalscorer market would be our 1st Goalscorer or Goalscorer Match Bet markets for a given football fixture.

General Rules

All bets are settled on the result after 90 minutes play unless otherwise specified. This includes injury time but does not include extra time or penalty shootouts. On some occasions we may issue special extra time betting which will be on the 30 minutes including injury time added in that period.
Own Goals do not count for Goalscorer or Scorecast markets.
Bets will be settled on the Opta result announced where possible, followed by our Feed Provider and finally any official Competition website. Any subsequent corrections or amendments made - including those by dubious goals panels - will not apply for settlement purposes (i.e. if a correction is made during the game, we will settle based on the correction. However, if this happens a few days later (for example), bets will not be resettled and will remain as they were). Live Opta stats can be viewed here.
If a match is postponed, please refer to our Football - Abandoned or Postponed Match Rules article. Games which have their kick-off altered well in advance to accommodate live TV, or to ease fixture congestion will not constitute a postponement. Where a postponed match features as part of a multiple bet, the bet will stand on the remaining selections in the multiple.
If a match is abandoned after it has already kicked off, any bets where the outcome has already been decided will stand. All other selections will be made void.
If it is announced within 3 hours of kick off that the game is due to restart within 3 days of the initial abandonment, all bets will stand. Undetermined bets will be void if no information is received within 3 hours of the initial abandonment.
Games where a referee removes the players from the field of play for a temporary period but resumes the remaining minutes of play by midnight local event time will not be deemed as abandoned and all bets will stand.
Games or markets where a result cannot be found will result in bets being made void 24 hours after the game has kicked off and the stake will be refunded, unless your bet involves more than one selection, in which case it will be settled on the remaining selections.
Timing markets (e.g. Ronaldo to score in the first 10 minutes) will be taken from the information published by the official competition website or the Press Association.
Although every effort will be made to quote all potential goalscorers, should a goalscorer not quoted score all bets will stand.

1st Goalscorer

You're betting on: which player will score the first goal of the match. 'No Goalscorer' can also be selected in this market.

If the player does not play or comes on after a goal has already been scored, bets taken on the player will be void and the stake will be refunded, unless your bet involves more than one selection, in which case it will be settled on the remaining selections.

For Each Way Goalscorer bets, the following terms will apply:

The place terms of each way bets will be settled on all goals at 1/3 of the odds.
Where no goals are scored all each-way bets will be treated as losers.
If a player scores the first goal, both the win and place parts of the bet will be winners. If the same player scores a further goal no additional winnings will be paid.
If a player scores the second, or any subsequent goals, the place part of the bet will be successful. If the same player scores more than once, no additional winnings will be paid.
If the selection does not take part or comes on after the first valid goal is scored (i.e. not an own goal), both the win and place parts of the bet will be void and the stake will be refunded, unless your bet involves more than one selection, in which case it will be settled on the remaining selections.
Players that are substituted / sent off before the first goal is scored will be settled as losing bets for both the win and place parts of the bet.
In abandoned matches, bets which have not been determined as winners or returned at place terms at the time of abandonment will be made void, except in the case of players who have already left the field of play through substitution or dismissal, which shall be settled as losers. Those which have already been successfully determined will be settled as winners/placed.
If the first goal is an own goal then bets will roll on to the next goal. If the second goal is also an own goal then bets will roll on to the 3rd goal. This continues until a player scores in to the goal their team are attacking. If the game ends 0-0 or the only goals scored are own goals then 'No goalscorer' will be settled as the winner.

Sub Insurance

Sub Insurance applies only to specified markets with "Sub Insurance" in the market name.
For bets placed on a Sub Insurance market, if the player you've backed gets substituted, your bet will carry over to their replacement.
Where more than one substitute comes on at the same time, the specific replacement for each player will be determined by Opta.
If a player comes on as a substitute and is later subbed-off, your bet will roll on to their replacement. e.g. Diaz is replaced by Jota, who is later replaced by Nunez. A bet on Diaz to score would roll on to both Jota and then Nunez.
Applies to 90 min betting only, unless otherwise stated.

First Goalscorer Double Chance

You're betting on: will either of the named players score the first goal?

Both players must start for bets to stand. In the event the selection doesn't stand, it will be made void and the stake will be refunded.

To Score 1st and Win/Draw/Lose

You're betting on: which player will score the first goal of the match AND their team goes on to win, draw or lose the match.

If the player does not play or comes on after a valid first goal has already been scored, bets taken on the player will be void and the stake will be refunded, unless your bet involves more than one selection, in which case it will be settled on the remaining selections.

To Score 1st Or 2nd Goal

You're betting on: will the named player score the first goal or second goal?

If the named player does not take part before the time of the 2nd goal bets will be void and the stake will be refunded, unless your bet involves more than one selection, in which case it will be settled on the remaining selections.
If the named player comes on between the 1st and 2nd goal being scored and then scores the 2nd goal then bets will be settled as winners.
If the named player comes on between the 1st and 2nd goal being scored and does not score bets will be void and the stake will be refunded, unless your bet involves more than one selection, in which case it will be settled on the remaining selections.

Last Goalscorer

You're betting on: which player will score the last goal of the match. 'No Goalscorer' can also be selected in this market.

If the player does not take part in the match, bets on that player will be void and the stake will be refunded, unless your bet involves more than one selection, in which case it will be settled on the remaining selections. If the player takes any part in the match, bets will stand.

1st Team Goalscorer

You're betting on: which player will score the first goal for their respective team

If the player does not play or comes on after a goal has already been scored for their team, bets taken on the player will be void and the stake will be refunded, unless your bet involves more than one selection, in which case it will be settled on the remaining selections.

To Score in 90mins

You're betting on: whether a player will score a goal during the course of the match

In abandoned matches, any player who has already scored at the time of abandonment will be settled as a winner.
If the named player does not take part in the match, bets on that player will be void and the stake will be refunded, unless your bet involves more than one selection, in which case it will be settled on the remaining selections. If the player takes any part in the match, bets will stand.

To Score a Brace

You're betting on: whether a player will score two goals (or more)

If the named player does not take part in the match, bets on that player will be void. If the player takes any part in the match, bets will stand.
In abandoned matches, any player who has already scored twice at the time of abandonment will be settled as a winner.

To Score and Win/Draw/Lose

You're betting on: whether a nominated player will score a goal AND their team goes on to win, draw or lose the match.

If the named player does not take any part in the match, bets on that player/team combination will be void and the stake will be refunded, unless your bet involves more than one selection, in which case it will be settled on the remaining selections.

To Score a Header

You're betting on: the named player to score a headed goal for their own team.

A header is deemed for settlement purposes to be any contact with the ball made with the head, as adjudicated by Opta.
If the shot is deflected off any other player then the scorer of the goal will follow the rules given by Opta (as per our first goalscorer rules).
Bet will be voided if player doesn't participate in the match and the stake will be refunded.
Own Goals do not count.

To Score From Outside the Penalty Area

You're betting on: the named player to score from outside the 18 yard penalty area for their own team.

This market is adjudicated by OPTA.
If the shot is deflected off any other player then the scorer of the goal will follow the rules given by Opta (as per our first goalscorer rules).
Bet will be voided if player doesn't participate in the match and the stake will be refunded, unless your bet involves more than one selection, in which case it will be settled on the remaining selections.
Own Goals do not count.

To Score a Free Kick

You're betting on:the named player to score a goal directly from a free kick.

Must be scored by the first touch of the ball which restarts play.
Direct free kicks only. Goals scored from corners, penalties, indirect free kicks or other set piece situations will not count.
Bets will be settled on the Opta result, per our Goalscorer rules.

To Score a Perfect Hat Trick

You're betting on: the named player to score a perfect hat Trick

A perfect hat trick requires a player to score 3 or more goals, with at least 1 attributed to each of their left foot, right foot and header.
Settled according to Opta.

To Score and be Carded

You're betting on: the named player to score and be shown a card.

For this bet to be a winner your named player must be a winning selection in the "To Score in 90 Minutes" and "Player to be carded" markets.
Cards shown to a player before they enter or after they leave the field of play will not count towards settlement.

Scorecast / Scorecast Boosts

You're betting on: a nominated player to score the First Goal and the match to finish in a chosen scoreline, e.g. Player A to score first and Team B to win 2-1

If your selected player doesn't take part or comes on after the first goal is scored then your bet will be settled as a single on the correct score of the game.
In the event of an own goal, bets will be settled on the next Goalscorer and the Correct Score in the match. If the Correct Score is 1-0 and the only goal of the match is an own goal, then bets are settled as a Correct Score single.
For Scorecast Double Chance Bets if your selected player doesn't take part or comes on after the first goal is scored then your bet will be settled as a single on the combined double chance price of the two stated correct scores.

Player Scores Both Halves

You're betting on: a nominated player scoring in BOTH the first half AND the second half

If the nominated player is registered as scoring in both the first half and the second half, the selection will be settled as a winner.
If the nominated player fails to take part in the first half of the match or any part of the match, the selection will be settled as void and the stake will be refunded, unless your bet involves more than one selection, in which case it will be settled on the remaining selections.
If the nominated player takes part in the first half of the match and fails to register a goal, the selection will be settled as a loser regardless of their level of participation in the second half of the match.
If the nominated player takes part in the first half of the match and does register a goal, but then takes no part in the second half of the match, the selection will be made void and the stake will be refunded, unless your bet involves more than one selection, in which case it will be settled on the remaining selections..

Player To Outscore The Opposition

You're betting on: who will score more goals in the match between the chosen player and the opposing team.

If the named player does not take part in the match, bets on that player will be void and the stake will be refunded, unless your bet involves more than one selection, in which case it will be settled on the remaining selections. If the player takes any part in the match, bets will stand.

Hat Trick

You're betting on: a nominated player scoring a hat trick in the match

If the named player does not take part in the match, bets on that player will be void and the stake will be refunded, unless your bet involves more than one selection, in which case it will be settled on the remaining selections. If the player takes any part in the match, bets will stand.
In abandoned matches, any player who has already scored a hat-trick at the time of abandonment will be settled as a winner.

Both Players To Score / Goalscorer Treble

You're betting on: whether each of the named players will score in the match

In abandoned matches, bets where both players have already scored at time of abandonment will be settled as winners. If both named players have left the field of play through substitution or abandonment, bets will be losers.
All named players must take part for bets to stand.

Full Time Result & Both Players to Score

You're betting on: both players to score in the match and the result after 90 minutes

If one of the named players doesn't take any part in the match then the bet will be settled as a Score & Win bet on the remaining player.
If both players don't take any part in the match the bet will become a win single on the match result betting.

Either Player To Score

You're betting on: will either of the named players score in 90 minutes?

If both named players take any part in the match, bets on that selection will stand.
If neither player takes any part in the match, bets will be void and the stake will be refunded, unless your bet involves more than one selection, in which case it will be settled on the remaining selections.
If only one named player takes any part in the match then bets will be settled under the rules for the 'To Score in 90 mins' price for that player.

Goal Scorer & Player Shots Match Bets

You're betting on: between two named players, who will score the most goals/have the most shots/shots on target in the match.

Both players must start for bets to stand
Player shots / shots on target settled against data received from Opta at the point of settlement. Live Opta stats can be found here

To Score In First 10 Mins

You're betting on: whether a nominated player will score a goal in the first 10 minutes of a match.

If the named player does not start the match bets will be deemed void and the stake will be refunded, unless your bet involves more than one selection, in which case it will be settled on the remaining selections.

Penalty Specials

You're betting on: a selection of penalty related markets which correspond to 90 minutes play only

If a penalty rebounds from either the woodwork or the goalkeeper and is touched again before a goal is awarded this will be deemed as a miss.
If a penalty is ordered to be retaken then the original penalty will not count towards any official settlement.
If a penalty is awarded but the penalty taker is penalised by an illegal run up and a free kick awarded to the opposing team, then this will not count as a penalty taken.

Combination Goalscorer

You're betting on: the total number of goals scored by the two named players in a match.

All bets are for 90 minutes unless otherwise stated. Extra time and penalties will not count.
If both players in the bet do not take any part in the match, the bet will be made void and the stake will be refunded, unless your bet involves more than one selection, in which case it will be settled on the remaining selections.

Double Chance Goalscorers

You're betting on: either of the named players to score First, Anytime, a Brace, Hat trick, Header or from Outside of the box.

All bets are for 90 minutes unless otherwise stated. Extra time and penalties will not count.
If both players in the bet do not take any part in the match, the bet will be made void and the stake will be refunded, unless your bet involves more than one selection, in which case it will be settled on the remaining selections.

Goalscorer/Assist Double

You're betting on: the named player to score a goal which has been assisted directly from the other named player.

If any player in the selection plays no part in the match then the bet will be void and the stake will be refunded, unless your bet involves more than one selection, in which case it will be settled on the remaining selections.

Goalscorer Accumulators

You're betting on: All named players to score in the specified matches. If one or more players does not take any part in the match, the bet will be made void and the stake will be refunded, unless your bet involves more than one selection, in which case it will be settled on the remaining selections.

Both Players To Assist a Goal

You're betting on: whether each of the named players will assist a goal in the match

In abandoned matches, bets where both players have already assisted a goal at time of abandonment will be settled as winners. If either player has not yet assisted a goal at the time the match is abandoned then bets will be void and the stake will be refunded, unless your bet involves more than one selection, in which case it will be settled on the remaining selections.
If both named players have left the field of play through substitution bets will be losers.
All named players must take part for bets to stand.

Scorecast / Scorecast Boosts

You're betting on: a nominated player to score the First Goal and the match to finish in a chosen scoreline, e.g. Player A to score first and Team B to win 2-1

If your selected player doesn't start the game or comes on after the first goal is scored then your bet will be settled as a single on the correct score of the game.
In the event of an own goal, bets will be settled on the Next Goalscorer and the Correct Score in the match. If the Correct Score is 1-0 and the only goal of the match is an own goal, then bets are settled as a Correct Score single.
Should your Scorecast bet be on a player to score at any point during the 90 minutes, then that part of the bet will be settled as per our 'To Score in 90 mins' rules. Should the player take no part at all then the bet will be settled as a correct score single.
If a match is abandoned prior to the completion of 90 Minutes Play and a goal has been scored, combination bets revert to First Goalscorer singles. If no goal has been scored then all bets are void and the stake will be refunded, unless your bet involves more than one selection, in which case it will be settled on the remaining selections
For Scorecast Double Chance Bets if your selected player doesn't start the game or comes on after the first goal is scored then your bet will be settled as a single on the combined double chance price of the two stated correct scores.
