How long will my bet take to be settled?
We strive to settle your bet as soon as the event finishes. However, during busy periods, please allow up to 1 hour for the full result to be confirmed and for your winnings to appear in your account before contacting us.
It is also worth noting that we use third party providers to obtain statistics from matches and events in order to settle your bets. On occasion the feed is lost with our third party providers which can cause delays in settlement. In situations where we are unable to have this feed restored, we will wait up to 12 hours before settling your bet with the information we are able to obtain. Feeds from larger events (such as Premier League games or the Champions League) are quicker and more accurate than those of smaller, more obscure leagues and so should not take more than the 1 hour quoted above to settle. This should all help inform your decision to get in touch with us, if you think something has gone wrong with your settlement.
What are your terms of Settlement?
- Subject to the other provisions of our Sky Bet Rules bets are settled according to the displayed odds/prices at the time the bet receipt is issued, subject to best odds guaranteed promotions. For Horse racing only, if prices/odds are not offered or requested, bets are settled at starting price returns.
- Bets are settled to Win unless "Each Way" is requested.
- For Ante Post events on which Each Way bets are accepted, settlement will be based on the odds and place terms applicable when the bet is taken.
- In the case of daily events, such as horse racing, the Each Way terms will be determined by the number of runners that have taken part.
- For the purpose of calculation, Each Way Doubles, Trebles etc., are settled as two distinct bets i.e. win on to win and place on to place.
- In a DEAD HEAT the stake money on a selection is divided by the number of runners involved in the dead heat. The full odds are then paid to the divided stake, with the remainder of the stake money being lost.
- Where a selection is made void or does not run, then in Single bets the stake will be returned. In accumulative bets the stake will run on to the remaining selection(s) with a Double becoming a Single, a Treble becoming a Double and so on.
- If any bet is understaked it will be settled in proportion to the stakes paid.
- Where the conditions of an event have been significantly altered (e.g. change of venue) we reserve the right to void all bets.
- We cannot allow for mistakes or accept responsibility for any errors or omissions in respect of the announcing, publishing or marking of prices, runners, live scores or results despite our every effort to ensure total accuracy. We reserve the right to correct obvious errors and settle bets at the correct odds.
Incorrect Settlements
If you think you've noticed an error in how your bet's been settled, we ask you to check the following before contacting us:
- Has there been a Rule 4 applied to your bet due to a non-runner? For an explanation of Rule 4 read our Rule 4 Deductions article.
- Is there a dead heat in the event that you have placed your bet on? For an explanation of a dead heat, read our Dead Heat article.
- If your bet is a multiple, is one of the selections a non-runner? For an explanation of what a non runner is read our Non Runners article.
- Please bear in mind that for football, we operate a '90 minute rule'. The 90 minute Rule is applicable for all football bets (unless stated). It means that your bets will cover the full 90 minutes of the game (including any injury time) but not extra time or penalty shootouts.
The exceptions to this rule are in relation to situations where the referee ends the match before 90 minutes for reasons other than an abandonment, in these circumstances all markets will be settled based on the actual result when the game was concluded (excluding any extra-time), irrespective of whether the full 90 minutes was played.
If you still feel the bet's been settled incorrectly, you may want to use the Betting Calculator.
Using the calculator you can input information such as the type of bet you have placed (E.G. a single, an accumulator, a Heinz etc) or how much you have staked and it will show you what you can expect to win. The calculator is a free online resource and is entirely independent of Sky Betting and Gaming.
Failing all the above, please contact our Customer Experience Centre who will look into it for you, using the 'Contact Us' button at the bottom of this article.
Duplicate Events
- If a duplicate event is displayed on our site or app, we reserve the right to withhold immediate settlement of, and remove Cash Out availability from, any bets containing 2 or more selections that you would not normally be able to combine.
- If this does occur and you combine 2 or more versions of the same outcome (eg Brazil to beat Argentina at 6/4 doubled with Brazil to beat Argentina at 7/4) then we will disregard the shortest price version and treat it as void. In the above example your bet would be settled as a winning single at 7/4.
- If the bet is on 2 or more selections that are not the same but would otherwise not be able to be combined then we reserve the right to treat as void all such duplicated selections in settling bets. Eg Brazil to win from one version, and Argentina or Draw double chance from the other would see both legs being disregarded and treated as void at settlement.
- In the event bets are already settled by our systems before we can apply the reduced settlement, we reserve the right to apply the reduced settlement retrospectively.
Suspicious Events
Where there is evidence of Price, Race, Match or Event rigging, we reserve the right to make bets void or withhold payment of winnings pending the outcome of any subsequent investigation.
We reserve the right to void a bet where we have reason to believe that a bet is placed after the outcome of an event is known, or after the selected participant or team has gained a material advantage.
