How do I place a free bet?

Why can't I use my free bet?
To find your available free bets, head to your free bet wallet. Only eligible free bets will show in your bet slip...
- For example, if you have a Football free bet and you're trying to place a football bet, this one would appear.
- Whereas, if you had a Cricket free bet and you're trying to place a football bet, this one would not appear.
If you want to locate all of your free bets, these can be found in the 'My Rewards' page of your account here.
If you can't use a free bet, it may be restricted to a certain type of bet. We have been working to improve your experience by advising you at the point you receive a free bet, what it can be used on.
Our most commonly awarded free bet across the start of the football season will be for use on Build a Bets only. For more information on Build a Bets, read our BuildABet article.
Another reason might be that your free bet has expired. Your expired free bets can be seen in the 'My Rewards' page when you are logged in, please note that expired free bets won't show in your free bet wallet.
How do I know when my free bets expire?
All expiry dates/timescales for free bets will be listed within the promotional terms at the point you opt in to a promotion. These promotions will usually have their own page on this support site for you to review. These can be found by using search bar function beside the magnifying glass at the top of this page, by typing in the name of the promotion.
If a page doesn't exist or you missed this information, you can see how long is left to run on your free bets before they expire, at the point you place your bet.
Please note, only free bets applicable to the bet being placed will show. For example, if you're placing a Build a Bet, only free bets eligible for Build a Bet markets will appear. This information is available in your free bet wallet.
When selecting your free bet for use, you will be presented with the following view:
Any free bets that are not expired will have a timescale for use underneath as well information around what they can be used on, if they are restricted.
Why haven't I received my free bet?
There are a number of reasons why you may not have received your free bet:
- You have not met the criteria for the promotion. Before contacting us, please check that you have opted in or you have staked/spent the right amount on the right types of bet under that promotion. You can do this by logging in and checking the promotions terms from its promotion page, found here. You can read more about this below.
- You are excluded from receiving free bets. For more information in respect of this see the section below 'I believe I have been excluded from receiving free bets. What can I do to resolve this?'
- If you have entered a promotion on one of our Gaming Products (Sky Vegas, Sky Bingo, Sky Casino or Sky Poker) free bets will be added to your Sky Bet account. You can use your existing login details to access them here. To start using your free bets, see our how to guide here
- You may have already been credited with your free bet. For more information on how to check, read our 'How do I find out if I have a free bet?' section
I believe I have been excluded from receiving free bets. What can I do to resolve this?
If you have been excluded from receiving free bets, we will have sent an email to the address with which you registered your account confirming this. Please check all your active email addresses for an email from us titled either; 'Important Notification', 'Service Announcement: Your Sky Bet Account', or 'Important Information Regarding Your Account'.

Can I have a free bet on Sky Bet?
At Sky Betting and Gaming, we don't give out free bets on request because there are so many opportunities to receive them whilst using our products.

How do I find out if I have a Free Bet?
On Browser:
You can find out if you have a Free Bet on your account by looking in your 'Bet Slip' when you are placing a bet. If you have an eligible bet, it would appear at this time.
On Mobile/App
An orange label at the top of the Home Page will appear when logged in (see image below), outlining how many Free Bets you have available to use:
How do I keep a track of my free bets? How do I know if I have used them?
You can check if you have used a free bet to stake with, by checking your open/settled bets under 'My Bets' and looking for the stake. 'My Bets' can be accessed on the left hand side of the Sky Bet Home Page after you have logged in.
If you have used a free bet when placing a selection, an Orange Present Box will show and the amount of free bets used will be displayed next to it. This can be viewed in your 'betslip', or in your 'my bets' (see image below).

I have received a free bet through one of your promotions, when will it be credited?
If you have yet to receive a free bet offer for which you have qualified, there are a number of actions you can take:
- Check the free bet hasn't already been credited
- Free bets do not show as part of your balance. To ensure you haven't already been credited with your free bet, click here to view your current promotions (login required). For help on how to place any free bets you may have, read the below question 'How do I place a free bet'
- You can also read the section 'How do I find out if I have a Free Bet' which will show you where to locate any free bets that you have available for use.
Check the 'Terms & Conditions' of the offer
The terms & conditions should be available under each promotional Home Page. These can be accessed from the 'My Rewards' tab at the top of your home page, or the 'Promotions' tab in the navigation bar on the left hand side of the Home Page
Pay particular attention to how to opt in to the promotion. If you click on each promotion from the 'Promotions' tab, you should see the below message on the following screen if you have successfully opted in (please note that this 'You're in! Bet here' message is an example and may change depending on the promotion).
Please note - If you have not opted in, then everything you have staked up to that point will not count towards the promotion and you will need to start again.
In addition to this, check which stakes qualify you for a promotion. Usually you have to place on particular odds or greater for your stake to count and if you cash out the bet, this will be taken off your staking total.
How do I place a Free Bet?
You can see your Free Bets in the orange banner on the homepage. Apply them in your bet slip by tapping the orange present icon.
Follow these steps:
1. Log in to your account using the 'Log In' button.
2. You will see the orange Free Bets header on the homepage, which will show all Free Bets available on your account
3. Make your selection(s) as usual - a guide can be found here
4. On the Bet Slip, if you have eligible free bets, you will see the present icon next to your selection(s). If you tap the present icon you will be able to see the Free Bets you have available and be able to select the ones you wish to use (if you have multiple). See the image below.
5. You can also add a cash stake in the stake field if you wish to.
6. Click 'Place Bet' when you are done to add the selection to your bet slip.
NOTE Some free bets have restrictions and can only be applied to specific selections depending on the terms and conditions of the promotion. For example, some free bets can only be used on 'In-Play Betting' (i.e can only be used on events that are currently underway).

What are the Sky Bet Free Bet Rules?
- For any Sky Bet offer that involves free bets, the general rules below apply:
- Any Sky Bet offer is limited to one per customer and cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer.
- In the event of a customer opening more than one account in order to claim multiple registration offers, or claiming an offer on duplicate accounts, we reserve the right to suspend and close any duplicate accounts and make void any bets placed.
- Free bet tokens are provided for customers to bet with and cannot be withdrawn
- Free bet stakes are not returned with winnings.
- Free bets can be used on any market in which is specified within the free bet (excluding Tote and US Racing pool betting) providing the value of the free bet doesn't exceed the maximum bet allowed amount on any account.
- Sky Bet reserves the right to refuse a free bet to a customer where Sky Bet reasonably believes that such customer is abusing or defrauding the free bet system.
- Sky Bet reserve the right acting reasonably to withhold, restrict or cancel promotions from individual account holders in accordance with its eligibility, promotion abuse and internal trading risk policies at its reasonable discretion and with prior notice.
- To claim a matched free bet a customer must stake their own money to be eligible, should their initial selection be a non runner then the free bet will not count.
- Free Bet Expiry subject to the terms and conditions of individual promotions & offers. These will be detailed within the opt in page of the promotion.
